Marshfield is in for a 3:45 meet, I'll be setting up the course at 1:30, Senior Day, overcast with AM drizzle. Sounds like yesterday. Like the movie - Groundhog Day. But that is where it ends. OK?
Yesterday's Girls race was a difficult defeat, but give credit to the Marshfield Girls. They ran extremely well and are an excellent team. Pre-season prognosticators had them as the 4th best team . . . in the State! But our kids ran well too. Toss the Duxbury results, and look at the 5K races run on our course. Nearly every runner ran her best 5k at home yesterday, and the difference for those that didn't? Two seconds! So the girls have nothing, repeat nothing, to be ashamed of. You have all improved dramatically over the season and the results are a testament to your hard work.
Today there will be two races. JV and Varsity will be run separately with four waves in each. We'll again be asking the girls to monitor the course during these races. The Boys did an outstanding job yesterday of insuring your safety and allowing you to run comfortably. Today it is your turn. We'll discuss assignments at 2:30 when we convene for Practice #32. It will be a recovery run on school grounds. Boys, because Senior pictures will be taken FOLLOWING the meet, you don't have to arrive until 3:00. Bring an extra pair of dry socks. I suspect the grounds will be soggy for your warm up and you may like a change prior to racing.
That's all for now. Prepare mentally. We'll see you there . . .
