Whitman-Hanson hosts Hingham

The rain had an impact on the festivities and the results of yesterday's meet certainly, but nonetheless it was a good day all around for our teams.  First, despite the downpour and unrelenting wind, Senior Day activities were held, and we are grateful for our Seniors, many of whom have been with us for four years.  We're equally thankful for the parents that put things together to make it memorable for those of the Class of 2023.  (Just thinking about that makes me feel even older than I am!)  We changed the course slightly to accommodate the athletes and get them out of the rain quickly, and I think it resulted in a course that we may consider using going forward.  It allows the spectators an opportunity to see the runners no less than 5 times.  It also eliminates dodging JV Girls soccer parents at the start of the race.  WHRHS poses considerable problems for XC because we somehow must circumnavigate 5 other teams and two areas with auto traffic. A logistical nightmare. So, yesterday's route may be a keeper.

The Hingham team was simply a superior opponent yesterday.  Our kids ran as expected and ran well.  We just met up with an experienced, although young, tenacious and talented Hingham team. They are a perennial powerhouse and I applaud them.

I've provided some details below on the meet.  Official results, communication with Administration and media, and the actual Patriot Ledger write-up.  But I thought rather than dwell solely on today's meet I'd provide you with a hypothetical Patriot League meet to illustrate that we are NOT that far off from being very competitive within the league.  And in doing so I'll ask the obvious question of all our athletes.  What can YOU do to improve this picture?

The link for the Hypothetical meet follows.  You can switch back and forth between Boys and Girls using the tabs above the top team's name:
