WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2015

Today, and every day this week if necessary, bring in your uniform in the event we have team pictures taken. While today looks like there will be downpours most of the day, precluding a photo session, there is a break in the rain between 2:00 and 4:00 (Accuweather, not just wishful thinking) during which there are some showers predicted.  We WILL be practicing.  Today we will meet on the Indoor Track to warmup but your easy run  will move outdoors on school property.  You'll be OK, the temperature will be 70+.  Dress appropriately. BLACK will go 40 minutes, RED will run 30.  Abs and stretch to follow on the Indoor Track.  FYI - If we were holding a pre-race shakeout run we would consider doing it indoors.  But, as many of you know, the Indoor Track is designed for walking and the concrete surface below the tiles takes its toll on your legs, already tired from yesterday's run in the sand.

Some thoughts on yesterday . . . When I ran as a high school Freshman, my team lost to Middleboro in its first race of the season (I didn't do so well either!)  Samantha and Abbie are now midway through their Senior year and only yesterday got to experience their first loss.  Both Captains have been major contributors to the success of this program over the years and  I know they will look back on their high school experience with pride on their achievements.  Congratulations ladies on great careers thus far . . . a new winning streak starts next Tuesday!!  Overall the Girls had a great day.  Samantha set a new course record at P-N which will not be broken anytime soon!  Abbie and Nicole were a solid 2/3 for the team. And Lily Perkins, Julia Cosgrave and Hailey Welch had phenomenal races to keep it close against a very talented opponent.

On the Boys side Lukas survived a late scare with an incredible sprint down the stretch and our core group of Boys: Bryce, Patrick, Jack, Sam, Andrew, Jayson and Chris were all impressive in the team's victory. Extraordinary effort by every member of the team on a humid day, in unfamiliar (sandy) territory.

With meets against Duxbury and North Quincy/Quincy coming up each of our teams will be working very hard over the next three weeks.  Some of you may disagree, but we have not pushed you thus far this season.  With small teams, we pamper you a bit to keep you healthy and avoid injury.  You are all in great shape at this point and capable of taking it up a notch.  Your energy levels should be high based on what we've done to date and you will be challenged between now and the Hingham Meet.  Long intervals, tempo runs and a Saturday long run are just part of the equation before we move on to our speed work the week of October 18.  Attendance at practice is critical to your development and the success of the team.  Be there and be ready!  See you at 2:30 . . .
