Now that I have your (well, some of you anyway) attention

The coaching staff (with input from the Captains) are putting the final touches on the schedule for 2017.  I am an advocate for Invitationals because they usually provide extraordinary competition and a memorable course.  Because Whitman-Hanson has a competitive dual meet schedule, with races each week, the opportunity to participate in Invitationals does not always present itself.  However, there is an upcoming opportunity to run Massachusetts' (and perhaps New England's) most storied course, Franklin Park.  I mentioned this briefly at our conditioning sessions but here are the details.  Kelsey Tierney, who most of you know from her days here at W-H, is helping to organize the event and she, along with the Coaches, are encouraging YOU to enter.  Those of you following the various training plans we provided have been asked to run a 5K prior to returning to practice August 24.  This opportunity is perfect for you!  Information on the event can be viewed at the following link:

The "Back on My Feet 5K" benefits a very worthwhile cause, and the cost is MORE than reasonable.  The entry fee for your age group is $15.00 but if you use the code "bomfrunclub" when registering it is only $10.00.  TEN DOLLARS!!!  To run a great race on the Franklin Park course?  To help a cause that truly matters to all of us?  Where do I sign up?  You know I can no longer run . . . but if I could I would be there with bells on (OK, no bells . . .)  If any of you have an interest I would be happy to transport a small group.  Just let me know.

Still hoping to see more of you Tuesday and Thursday.  Coach S will be coming along tomorrow evening and will enjoy seeing (or meeting) you!
