Exam on Thursday

Did you complete your assignment?  Hopefully, you've started it!  Those that have will fare better than those that have not.  There probably will be a correlation between those that completed the assignment and the Martha's Vineyard roster.  I'd bet on it!  On that note here is our schedule as it stands right now . . .

09/05     @ Pembroke
09/08     @ Martha's Vineyard (14 entries)
09/12     @ Hanover
09/18     @ Duxbury
09/25     Plymouth North
10/02     Hingham
10/09     Silver Lake
10/16     Scituate
10/20     Catholic Memorial Invitational @ Franklin Park (14 Entries)
10/23     Plymouth South
10/27     Patriot League Meet @ Pembroke
11/10     EMass @ Wrentham (14 Entries)
11/17     All-State Meet @ Northfield

There is, by the way, not an easy meet on the schedule.  The Patriot League is extremely competitive and there is some tremendous talent on ALL the teams you'll be facing. I am however, hopeful, that we will make a good showing in each and every contest.  And on that subject (penultimate entry re: McRaven) the Admiral speaks of "hell week", the 9th week of SEAL training, no sleep and exhaustive training.  The training includes a Wednesday trip to the mud flats where the Admiral's group was forced into cold, wet mud, up to their necks and in which they were to spend the next 15 hours.  The instructors tempted the men, saying if 5 of you quit, you can all get out.  Nobody considered it.  And with 8 hours to go, and the only sound heard the chattering of teeth, one of the men began to sing.  One became two, two became three, and before long ALL the candidates were singing and despite threats from the instructors to extend their time in the mud, their singing persisted.  His point?  The power of hope can change the world.  The hope of one person can change the world (and he uses examples of Washington, Lincoln, MLK, and Mandela.)  If YOU want to change the world, start singing when you're up to your neck in mud.  (Metaphorically speaking, that is.)

If you began training 9-10 weeks ago, your season is half over.  Congratulations, the fun is about to begin.  YOU are ready to lead, not follow.  If you have not trained, it's too late to get ready.  But we will welcome singing any day during the first few weeks of practice.  There is hope for you yet . . .
