The reward for good work . . .

is more work.  And while that may be the reason behind my decision to change careers a quarter century ago, I always felt that achievements in running motivated me to work harder at it.  Yesterday our teams achieved quite a bit and I am hopeful you will feel the same way and want to get out there today and put in another day of hard work.

I'm convinced now that last week's results were, in contrast to this week's, a fair indication that the heat impacted your performances.  Yesterday was much more comfortable and you all stepped it up . . . again.  More about that at today's practice.

This Saturday, 7 Boys and 7 Girls will be participating in the Catholic Memorial Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston. It is an opportunity to run an historic course and it should be a terrific event.  Many teams are heading off to the Twilight Meet, but the truth is logistically that didn't work for us.  Substantial costs, plus the fact the meet has been severely overcrowded the past few years made the change necessary.  Like, Martha's Vineyard, I've had teams entered each year in the Twilight meet, but I am very excited about heading to Franklin Park.  Change in racing venues, like changes in careers can be very rewarding.

No bus transportation is available for Saturday's meet and we are hoping parents will help carpool the kids to the event.  Directions from Whitman-Hanson Regional are found at the following link:

Just one thing about the directions.  The actual entrance to the meet area is about 1/2 mile further down Franklin Park Road than shown on the map.  Follow the traffic and the entrance is on your right.  The Girls race is at 10:00AM and the Boys go off at 10:30AM.  Parking is difficult and ordinarily you have a considerable walk to the race site.  We hope all the student-athletes arrive by 9:00AM.  If there are questions please don't hesitate to ask.

And the real reason for the career change . . .

You will only be asked to do YOUR job!   See you at 2:30, ready to work
