The Whitman-Hanson Cross Country Boys and Girls competed in the Patriot League Championship Meet on Saturday, hosted by Marshfield High School. Varsity Boys and Girls races, as well Junior Varsity races were run on the 5K Marshfield Fairgrounds course. The Varsity Girls finished 6th overall as a team and the Varsity Boys edged Plymouth South to place first and win the competition!!
In the Girls Junior Varsity race it was Freshman Ella Bailey placing 4th among Patriot League teams in a time of 22:42. Ella was also the 2nd top Freshman within the league.
Junior Aiden O'Brien was also a 4th place finisher in the Boys Junior Varsity race with a time of 18:14.
As she has done all year, Sophomore and Patriot League All-Star Myah Kamperides led the Panther Girls team with a time of 19:32 placing 3rd overall and setting a new personal record in the 5K. Rounding out the top 5 girls were Junior Bryn Miller (32nd, 21:11), Sophomore Anna Flynn (33rd, 21:19), Senior Captain Tori Boss (36th, 21:25) and Senior Niki Kamperides (39th, 21:26.)
Junior standout Theo Kamperides established a new personal record in leading the Panthers to the win, and came with a split second of breaking the Whitman-Hanson 5K school record with an overall winning time of 15:50.7. A total of 5 Panther Boys, including Kamperides were named to the 12 All-Star slots. Others include Senior Captains Brandon Hager (13th, 16:45) and Adam Solari (22nd, 17:11), along with Junior Liam Cafferty (21st, 17:09) and Sophomore Nathan Tassey (15th, 16:55.)
