Tomorrow, Wednesday 9/28, I will be heading to Scituate High with the Whitman Middle School to help with its Cross-Country opener. Our teams will be in the capable hands of Coach S and Coach Coletti who have already put together a training plan. Before I provide the details of today's race, which follow below, I want to recognize two of our runners for their effort in today's meet. I'm certain each is dissatisfied with his/her result, but both showed us all something today. James Molito had a very difficult race, literally falling three times on the course. Each time he got up and started again and despite the difficulty he encountered James finished well with a very respectable time. James is a leader. In the way he talks, in the way he performs, in all he does really, and I am very proud of his effort and attitude. Thank you, James! I also want to recognize someone else who may not have had one of her better days yet finished in 4th place with a time of 21:05. McKenna had some difficulty breathing today due to congestion and labored through much of the race. During the race, I could see McKenna was very uncomfortable, so I asked her to simply finish, feeling her teammates could win without her. I was extremely impressed by her tenacious, persistent effort. She didn't stop for a second and pushed herself to an incredible finish, and like James has every reason to be proud of her effort and attitude. I know I am. Thank you, McKenna.
Keep up the great effort, James and McKenna. You're both exemplary student-athletes!
