We were happy to see about 20 student-athletes at our "Core @ 4" on Tuesday evening. It was warm, but we had an opportunity to warmup further with the new routine being used by the 2024 Cross Country Boys and Girls team. The warmup isn't sport specific and while it suits running perfectly, it is equally effective for any sport. That said, ALL are welcome to join us at the WHRHS Track each Tuesday and Thursday evening at 4:00 to participate.
Following our warmup, we jogged to the WHRHS weight room to show those in attendance the facility and to let them know when the space is open and available for use, after which we proceeded to the indoor walking track (another introduction for some) and went through a short body weight routine.
After a jog back to the track, we finished up with easy strength and mobility training. It ended what was a simple and relatively easy sequence of warming up, short run, strength training, short run, and mobility training; all designed to strengthen the student-athletes and begin to prepare them for the demands of their fall sport.
We're looking forward to continuing to offer these sessions throughout the summer and invite any WH student-athlete to join us. All you have to do is "show up." Hope to see you there.
