On Monday morning we looked at the weather forecast for the week and it was clear that the best day for the Time Trial was Monday. The teams ran well, and the results were posted in the last blog entry.
On Tuesday we ran easy for 35 minutes on what has been our 5K course over the years although things were still "up in the air" about our home course for 2024. Due to construction on part of our course, it became quite a task to configure a course that must also deal with two soccer practices, one and sometimes two football practices, and four driveway crossings. We approached the AD about running our meets off campus and today (Wednesday) we obtained approval to run at Burrage Pond. We've considered this a possibility for some time now and already have a course configured. The following link provides some details about this year's course:
Today, with what may likely be the final day of summer heat, we'll go easy following MIAA guidelines with respect to effort, clothing and breaks. But the rest of the week looks like perfect, seasonable weather and we'll also be holding our first off-site Saturday practice. Where else? Burrage. Best to get a feel for the course earlier rather than later. We'll have a couple of opportunities to practice there before we kick off our season when we host Marshfield September 10th.
Keep in mind tomorrow's Marathon Sports Night. Coach S will be reminding all today and tomorrow at practice about the place, time and discounts available to our athletes. He'll also be filling everybody in on a wonderful opportunity thanks to the generosity of one of our team's most ardent supporters, Mr. Paul Clark. More details will follow later, but I don't want to steal Coach S's thunder.
Back with more soon.
