Red sky at night . . .
I am not really sure if the adage is accurate, but the picture shown above, taken in Hull last evening, does not match the weekend forecast. In fact, if I resided in Hull I would have some concern about the high seas accompanying the remnants of Hurricane Dorian this weekend. We are impacted here at WHRHS since the Martha's Vineyard Invitational has been postponed until September 14. The decision to not participate in the re-scheduled meet takes into account the fact we are reluctant to have you run in 3 meets over an 8 day period at this point in the season. Add to that the need to focus on two very capable opponents in Plymouth South and Plymouth North on 9/11 and 9/19 . . . which handed us a combined total of 4 losses in 2018. Let's get this season off to a good start . . .
We have decided to enter the Frank Kelly XC Invitational on September 28. The race format is different than the Martha's Vineyard Invitational and provides excellent competition on a course all of you should hope to return to in November. You should all be better conditioned with two weeks additional training and the Kelly meet follows a non-league meet with Marshfield which will serve as a tune-up. Details of the meet can be seen via the following link:

Saturday practice this weekend will be held at Union Point (formerly Southfield, formerly Naval Air Station, South Weymouth) at 9:00AM, rain or shine. Dress appropriately. For the uninitiated, we practice in inclement weather. You'll be fine with a little rain if you dress appropriately. I also heartily suggest some type of lubricant for your feet and other areas prone to chafing. I always found Bag Balm ointment to be the best protection against blistering and chafing. It is well worth the investment of $7-10. The starting point for this Saturday's practice follows:

Attendance has been very encouraging this season as has been the progress each of you has made. We have kids who couldn't run 400 meters turn in 4 mile runs after a mere 13 practices. You can understand our enthusiasm.
OK, enough for now . . . we'll see you at 2:30.
