October 14, 2020 - Practice Day #22, Girls Meet #3

Another morning of looking at goals I've set for myself,  you as individuals and you as a team, and I am excited for this week's meets.  Sunny, 70 degrees, fully automated timing . . . best day yet for WHXC 2020!

Boys will practice at 2:30.  Today will be a shakeout for ALL (25-45 minutes EASY), followed by strides, core and stretch and then it's to your post along the 5K course to help the ladies navigate their race safely and confidently.  Be supportive of all, but don't fear expressing your favoritism!

Girls should arrive by 3:00.  My understanding is that with the automated timing you will be issued bib numbers and you'll want to warm up effectively.  I'll also go over wave assignments and pre and post-race procedures.  Hydrate and eat appropriately.  If you have the opportunity, run the race in your mind.  Your first 100 Meters. Follow each turn, each hill.  Be aware of the terrain. Review your strategy, confirm your plan.  Be confident. Know where to kick it in.  Finish strong.  Today is your day!  Your legs are ready.  Now, as it is written "prepare your minds for action."

We'll have an addendum to this entry later this evening . . .

The following was sent to local media and administration following today's meet:

Whitman-Hanson Girls Cross Country fell to Hingham High at home Wednesday afternoon 22-39.  Junior Captain Myah Kamperides paced the Panthers with a 2nd place finish overall in 20:48.  Senior Isabelle Amado finished 4th overall in 21:29.  Also running well for the host team were Senior Bryn Miller (23:01), Freshman Sky Bucci-Anderson (23:27) and Junior Sarah Boulger (23:36.)
