October 8, 2020 - Practice #18

I was going to title this entry "K Kids Krush Kourse" but they did it with a lot of help and both Theo and Myah, now the record holders for the Plymouth North 2.7 mile course, are consummate "team" players.  Neither is looking for headlines.

The past two days were very gratifying. Those we expected to see at or near the top met expectations and a whole lot of kids exceeded them.  Your hard work is paying off.  That gap between the "back of the pack" and our top groups is narrowing daily and it is your effort that is responsible for it.  Maintain the enthusiasm, re-establish goals and continue to stride (pun intended) toward them.

Next week we host the Hingham Girls on Tuesday, the Boys on Thursday.  Hingham has graciously offered to time the races, and we are quite relieved.  Logistics and scoring for our meets has become a little complex.  After decades of following essentially the same procedure (we handed out popsicle sticks when I was in high school), changes don't come easy.  Things have gone smoothly in Meets #1 and #2, but with a very large team in here next week, the automated timing comes as a blessing. Slainte mhaith to my coaching colleagues Fred Jewett and Todd Deely.

Today will be a recovery run for the Boys, and I daresay most are ready to travel the "mean streets" of Whitman with Coach S followed by strides, core and stretch. Rules for the road and further instructions  at practice at 2:30.

Separate workouts for the Girls.  Groups 1 and 2 with Coach George for an Endurance set with a long recovery.  ? X 300 on the front field, sandwiched between Short Loop warm up and cool down.

Groups 3, 4, and 5 with Coach Coletti for a 10-10-10 Tempo Run.  All 5 groups follow up with core and stretch.

TOMORROW (FRIDAY) - Sue Moss will be at our practice at 2:30 for pictures before warmup.  WEAR YOUR UNIFORM!  Captains, get the word out there . . . and finally,

DON'T FORGET . . . 👀👀👀 DISTANCE OR MASKS.  Have yours on when you arrive today!

See you at 2:30.
