Thursday, 10/1/20, Practice Day #12 (Boys), Meet #1 (Girls) PLUS ADDENDUM

Ladies . . . you're up!

First race of the season.  Excited?  The coaches are!  Silver Lake is a young, and talented team.  In fact, it is considered by many to be a Top 20 team in Massachusetts.  And the pre-season kudos are well deserved.  Five underclassmen; all under 21:00 in the 5K.  But we have some very talented runners as well who have worked hard preparing for today.  It will be a battle and should be a very interesting race.  Nearly all of you have opted to run the 5K, and because the 3K will be run by only some of our newer runners or those returning from injury we will run a single race today with a separate wave (the final wave) for those competing in the 3K.  Both the Start and the Finish line will be the same for the 3K and 5K.  Those competing in the 5K will complete a second loop behind the school after passing through the finish area.  Don't worry we'll go over it once again when we convene at 2:45.  In the meantime, no need for anxiety, you've all run the course numerous times.  You'll be fine.

Today will be a shakeout run for the boys.  Easy running 25-45 minutes.  Boys should arrive for practice at the usual time of 2:30.  The Boys are expected to help out with the Girls race (and the Girls will help out with the Boys race tomorrow) so we want you to get your run in and get back to your assigned task.  We will have some of you at the finish line, others stopping traffic by the driveway or the crosswalk to the front field.  Others will be assigned an area on the course to help direct the Silver Lake runners since there will be no course tour.  I'll be setting up the cones along the course at 1:30, but I'll be asking the Boys to collect them all following the meet and return them to the equipment area. So Boys, you have a busy day ahead. Ladies, you get your turn tomorrow.

The time for talk is over . . . see you Boys at 2:30, Girls at 2:45.
