Yesterday's meet was challenging on many levels . . . the modified course, the additional races, first race jitters, and of course, the heat! Each and every runner was outstanding! The parents were great as usual. A meet with complications as was the case yesterday can be stressful for the coaches. Having involved and supportive parents insured a successful event. THANK YOU!!!
I posted the results last evening (which follow below) but neglected to give the scores. The Boys shut out Middleboro 15-50, while the Girls won handily 17-43. A great start to your seasons. The Middleboro team is young and inexperienced but up and coming. You all did a great job. The Middleboro coaches did nothing but praise your performances. We should have better weather on Saturday at Martha's Vineyard. There will be some tough competition however as the Hingham Boys and Plymouth North Girls are expected to be there. Our Boys will be without two of the top 7, but this is an early season invitational. Nothing is won in September. The Plymouth North girls are a powerhouse again this year, but we'll have numerous opportunities to test them. In anticipation of Saturday, the Martha's Vineyard runners will go very easy today and tomorrow.
Today's practice (and yes, we practice in the rain - the threat of thunderstorms keeps us close to the school) is shaping up like this:
Martha's Vineyard runners: 30 minutes @ E pace, Strides, Stretch, Weight Room
All other runners: 35-40 Minutes, Strides, Core, Stretch
Game balls @ 2:30 . . . see you there.
