The most remarkable statistic out of yesterday's meet was that nearly every runner who competed in last week's 2.5 mile race improved their time at the same distance this week, many in dramatic fashion. Improvements ranged from :03 (seconds) to 1:53 (one minute : 53 seconds.) Another item of note is that most of you who moved up from the 1.5 mile race of last week finished comfortably and in a good time. We have room for improvement, but we see progress every day. Your continued hard work and perseverance will ultimately pay off!
Yesterday we also saw some "pack running" in both the races. The top 7 Boys finished in a group, within :42 seconds, 1 through 7, and pushed each other throughout the race. ALL improved over last week as a result. On the Girls side, Abbie Newman improved by :46 seconds with Samantha Coletti by her side. Julia Cosgrave improved by 1:04 running along with Nicole Norve. And Lily Perkins improved by 1:23 chasing them down.
All in all, it was a terrific day yesterday (illness, mine, notwithstanding.) Next week we travel to Silver Lake which has a great course. Another 2.5 miler on trails in which all will compete. We start preparation today!
