WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2015

Game balls (football equivalent of stars of the meet) went out after this weeks Time Trial.  Freshman Maeve Rooney who finished 8th among the girls received a game ball.  A new runner with enormous potential, Maeve ran her first race in difficult conditions and was a very pleasant surprise.  On the Boys side, Sophomore Austin Wallace was the recipient of a game ball.  Following a summer of hard work Austin started his season with a great finish at Monday's Time Trial.  Austin's dedication has really paid off and his transformation over last season is incredible!

My first task today was to check the weather forecast.  It will be very hot so the plan is to go easy. Most of you are still building endurance and another day of long slow distance running will be beneficial. You can anticipate workouts Thursday and Saturday though!  Today's plan:

BLACK GROUP:  Warmup on Track, 40 minutes Easy in Holly Ridge area, 6 X 60 strides, stretch, weight room with Coach Moran

RED GROUP: Warmup on Track, 30 minutes Easy in Holly Ridge area, 6 X 60 strides, core, stretch

Looking toward the rest of the week the team will practice after school on Thursday.  Over the four day weekend practice will be held Friday at 8:30AM and Saturday at 8:30AM.  Sunday is a day off for all.  Monday you're on your own . . . a moderately easy run, with perhaps a few hills and pickups in preparation for Wednesday's meet versus Middleboro.  45-50 minutes for the BLACK group, 30-35 for the RED.

Uniforms are available following practice.  Many of you have already purchased ($32.00) yours.  You will need one in our League Meet versus Middleboro.  I've been asked by some non-team members if they can purchase a singlet.  The answer is yes, but only after we have outfitted our entire team.

See you all at 2:30 . . . don't forget the H2O and sun block!
