REMINDER - Cross Country banquet tonight at 6:00PM in the WHRHS cafeteria followed by a pictorial presentation by Sue Moss in the PAC.

One of the more important publications to a Track & Field coach is the LA84 Foundation's Track and Field Coaching Manual. The manual provides invaluable information in implementing a Track & Field program along with specific training recommendations for the sport's events. The manual even provides help in identifying potential athletes for each of those events.  It is interesting to note that in identifying potential distance runners the manual suggests "lean body types, tenacious workers, good students."  It goes on to say distance running ". . . requires an extraordinary amount of persistent, dedicated training.  Distance runners have to be self-motivated and able to see success at a the end of a long path of development.  Good students usually have all of those personality traits."  These traits are clearly evident in our XC teams as well as the distance runners in Track & Field.  Your willingness to work harder and longer than those in other sports and in other T&F events is exemplary.

Today the distance and mid-distance groups will be holding the same workout.  Following your warm up we'll head to Orchard Way, run 8 X 200M hills and return.  A quick core session and stretching and we'll call it a day.

Today's weather - Cloudy, 45 degrees between 2:00 and 4:00
