TUESDAY - October 4, 2016

Happy Birthday Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th U. S. President - who, not surprisingly, did not make anybody's list of top 3 Presidents of all time yesterday.  (This coach ranks them Lincoln, Jefferson and FDR by the way.)

Both groups had impressive workouts yesterday, easily exceeding expectations.  The front group was 10-20 seconds faster than target times on average.  The second group was equal to the task.  For those at the front, Saturday's workout, while "discomforting", has already served you well.  I think we sometimes confuse "core" training with "ab workouts."  Working those hips, hamstrings and glutes WILL make you a faster and stronger runner.  We will continue to focus on your true core in the days and weeks to come.

Today however, we will take it easy with our warmup, a shakeout run of 30 minutes, strides, 10 X 1 minute abs, and stretch.  60 minutes (OK, 63-65) and then its nutritional and mental preparation for Hingham which visits on Wednesday.  Girls first at 4:00 this week.

See you all at 2:30 . . .
