You all know we're going easy today, right? Some of you, I'm guessing, are wondering why we run at all the day prior to an important race like that coming up tomorrow at Hingham. Well, the answer is more than the simple response, 'to prepare you." In fact, it is far more important than you think. Yes, we ARE trying to prepare you, but running has become part of your regular routine these past 5 weeks (far more for the majority of you) and routine, in this case, is good. Maintain it. Running today will calm your nerves. Tomorrow, if you become anxious or nervous, just remember back to today. Do it today, you can do it tomorrow! Contrary to what your great-grandmother might think, you will not be tired tomorrow after running today. That myth was debunked with my generation. Go out and run 13 miles, you'll have a problem racing tomorrow. Running 25-45 minutes won't change a thing! And physiologically you're better off with a run today. You'll get that blood flowing to your muscles, delivering the nutrients and oxygen you'll need to perform in your biggest meet of the year thus far, at Hingham.
That said, today will be a shakeout run of 25-45 minutes. Three groups . . . you choose your group today. 25. 35. 45. EVERYBODY WILL FINISH STRONG UP THE DRIVEWAY. Strides, 10 x 1, stretch, 22, short meeting then rest up. Tomorrow is a big day. Bus leaves at 2:15 SHARP!
See you at 2:30.
