Tuesday - 9/12/17 W-H at Scituate

Today's opponent has a shorter (2.4 Miles if it is the same course as 2016) course, approximately 77% of our 5K course.  Your overall time will reflect this difference.  But you should also keep in mind that if you are well conditioned, as many of you are, you may be capable of maintaining a slightly faster than normal race pace over the shorter course.  Be aware of your mile split times from previous races and make a conscious comparison as you race today.  You should be shooting for approximately 5 seconds per mile faster than your 5K pace.  (For details check the EQUIVALENT tab at the link we are using to calculate paces:  https://runsmartproject.com/calculator/   )

We load our bus, which departs at 2:10 PM, in front of the gym.  By that time you should have had a gallon or so of water during the past 24 hours.  Bring your water bottles with you.  The temperature at race time will be 81 degrees.   Scituate High School is approximately 35 minutes away.  You've all had about three weeks to acclimate to the heat so you should not have difficulty with today's weather.  But, you are the best judge of how you feel.  Be sensible, be safe.

Ladies . . . Prepare to get into the win column.  Gents . . . Keep you record intact.  If your goal is to become a Top 7 runner or to simply finish a race, today may be your day!

See you at 2:10 . . .
