Defining Moments - Evoked on 9/11

For my generation it might have been the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War or on a brighter note the British Invasion and Woodstock.  For your parents the fall of the Berlin Wall, the demise of Communism or technological advancement.  With the Millennials it had to be 9/11 and the changes that have necessarily followed.  I know I'm out of touch, but I think your defining moments are yet to come and I am hopeful, that despite some of the more depressing world events (Katrina, Kim Jong-un, and enduring racial divide come to mind) you'll have your share of  the "peace and love generation" moments that I have had the good fortune to experience.  Although I am now very old, I am grateful for having been born at a wonderful time in our history.  My wish is that in 50 years or so you can look back and feel as I do today.

While perhaps not generational defining moments, you can all create your own individual moments through your academics, extra-curricular events, community service and athletics.  In this forum we tend to focus on the latter (while certainly encouraging the others at every opportunity.)  Today, in anticipation of tomorrow's meet versus Scituate it will be an EASY day with 3 groups heading out.  All will run at the pace you have computed per your "homework" assignment of yesterday.  Each group will run a different route of either 5, 4 or 3 miles.  The mile marks will be marked and/or detailed at practice.

Group 1 - To the Town Park via Franklin/South/Park with one loop around the Town Park and Return (Coach S)

Group 2 - Down Franklin, Right on South, Right on Perry, Right on Route 58, Right on Holly Ridge and return via Winter and Franklin (Coach G)

Group 3 - Down Franklin, Right on South, Right on Winter, Left on Franklin and Return. (Coach B)

Depart and Return to Half Time Building.  When you return grab your water or a drink and head out to the Javelin area.  The jog back to the Javelin area is included in your total mileage today so no walking!  Strides as a team (6 X 60) and then break out for 10 X 1 and Stretch by gender.

See you all at 2:30.

Tomorrow's bus leaves for Scituate at 2:10.  One bus will be leaving precisely at that time, get there!!
