MONDAY, October 23, 2017

Manic Monday?  For me anyway.  Busiest day of the week and I fell a little short of accomplishing my goals for the weekend, including mowing the lawn which now looks like a Kansas cornfield.  I'm happy to say that many of you accomplished what you set out to do this weekend . . . crush the Twilight Meet course!  From a coaching standpoint, the team was outstanding.  It was about pace, not place this weekend, and your paces were INCREDIBLE!  Top to bottom!  Today will be an EASY day with 30 minutes run on our course in preparation for tomorrow's meet versus Plymouth South.  Strides, Abs, Stretch to follow.  Plymouth South has a very good team and it should be good gauge of your current fitness on the heels of Saturday's race.

Coming up this Saturday is the Patriot League Championship meet.  Our bus will be leaving at 12:30 for 2:00PM start. We have a Coaches meeting on Wednesday when the qualifying standards will be set for Saturday's entries.  A number of other things will be discussed as well, including All-Star selections, scheduling, etc.  I'll report back on Thursday.

In the meantime I was asked two questions over the weekend by team members that caused me to ponder . . . (1) Who is my favorite runner? and (2) If I could live anywhere, where would that be?  The first question required less thought than the second and my favorite runner is (was, really) Kansan and Olympian Jim Ryun . . . for many reasons.

The second question . . . tough choice.  I really have spent most of my life within 25 miles of our school and don't envision myself anywhere else, but I would have loved to own a small farm in Bethlehem Township, PA.  75 miles from NYC and Philadelphia.  Rural/suburban . . . perfect!  I'll will spend some time imagining that scenario today while on my John Deere . . .

See you at 2:30.
