Yesterday's driving rain and sub-40 degree temperatures didn't scare off Andrew or Nicole who are each putting it all on the line for Saturday's All-State Meet.  A 12 minute warm up; 6 x 60 strides; 6 X 90 seconds at 5K pace with 2 minute jog; 4 x 30 seconds at Mile pace with 2 minute jog; 12 minute cool down. I was frozen and had about 5 layers on.  Nothing but smiles from our athletes though! Incredible effort.  Today they will be going easy, and if any of you want to accompany them, you are welcome.  We are meeting on the track at 2:15.

Last Call for Captains.  We have enough legitimate candidates but I don't want anybody to feel left out of the process.  You must nominate yourself by texting me at 781-367-8487.  Leave your name with your text, please.  All 2019 Seniors and Juniors with two years of experience on the XC team are eligible.

Last Call if you want to accompany us to the All-State Meet on Saturday.  We'll be leaving at 9:00, returning at 3:00.  Those who have requested a seat are in, some seats remain.  Same text number as above. Include your name.  Support your teammates!

52 Girls, 47 Boys are signed up for Indoor Track & Field.  If those numbers hold up that would be terrific, but it would be even better if we could fill a 3rd bus to our meets.  Based on what I see for signups in other sports there will be plenty of cuts made.  T&F will happily accept those cut from other teams.  I've asked before but still don't get it.  Why would anybody sit on the bench rather than participate in a sport where there IS no bench?  One response I've received is, "Because it's warm in the gym, Coach."  I've also asked why anybody would play a "club" sport when their skills won't erode but only improve by playing ours.  Again the answer, "Because it's warm in the dome, Coach."  But I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work with athletes like Andrew Newman and Nicole Norve who work in the elements and smile throughout. Just a couple of the reasons why they have distinguished themselves as two of W-H's top athletes . . .
