Monday, August 27, 2018 - Practice Day 4 - Time Trial

8:00AM Sharp on Monday Morning!  We will get to the Time Trial following some discussion concerning Racing Tactics and Pacing, as well as a description of the 2 Mile Time Trial course which promises to be challenging  We will also get familiar with our pre-race warmup, which this year will be significantly different and more structured than in the past.  The weather will cooperate, sunny and 70 degrees.  Dress appropriately and hydrate.  No need for pre-race jitters . . . think of the Time Trial as simply another workout and you should be OK.  It is important that you . . .

1.  DON'T focus on aching muscles which are part of the training experience,
2.  DON'T go crazy questioning whether or not you've prepared properly,
3.  DON'T make dietary changes in preparation of the Time Trial, and
4.  DON'T over think the race.

The primary purposes of the Time Trial are to determine your present state of fitness, help the coaching staff determine the workouts to follow during the week, and to establish individual training and pace times for those workouts.

Plan on core training followed by stretching before practice ends.

The Time Trial is IMPORTANT.  As important as it may be to the Coaching staff for the reasons noted, it should be equally important for you to establish a true reference point to gauge and monitor your improvement during the season.  In about 12-13 weeks most of you will look back and marvel at your progress.  Your best is yet to come.  But it all begins tomorrow . . .

See you there.
