Looking ahead to Saturday - 9/5/15

Great turnout to practice today on your day off!  Just about everybody worked to their current training level today.  We DID have some leaf peeping along the trails.  Other than 4 of us (yes, that includes me) being stung by bees, everybody came away unscathed from our efforts.  You all may recall Mr. Rodger's challenge to increase our numbers.  He offered free admission for the team to Football's first game if we recruited 12 newcomers.  Thus far we have 9!  I am hoping to add another tomorrow . . . Can you find two more?  Every day I see kids hanging out after school either waiting for a ride or chatting in the hallways.  We can offer something better.  Spread the word!

After considerable contemplation, tomorrow will again be a long, slow, distance day for those in the RED group.  Wednesday is our first meet and I want each of you to determine if you are capable of running a 5k (i.e. 3.1 miles.)  Please be honest with yourself but don't fear that distance.  If you can do it, by all means do it!  Those who are not yet ready will hopefully have an alternative.  I want to run it by the Middleboro coach to get his thoughts and concurrence, but the point is I don't want to have anybody injured going beyond their capabilities.  With the foregoing in mind, tomorrow looks like this:

RED Group:  Warmup, 30-35 minutes at Easy pace, Strides, Core, Stretch

BLACK Group:  Warmup, 8 X 400 at Interval pace, 6-8 minute jog, Core, Stretch

Practice starts at 8:30 and should be completed by 10:15 or so.  Two other items of note:  DON'T FORGET UNIFORM MONEY! and  Sincere thanks for holding the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, some of you know how much it means to me. You're the best!  THANK YOU!!! (Can somebody send me that video or point me in the right direction?)
