TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2016

Great practice for all Monday!  In spite of the heat, your effort is duly noted.  Tuesday's weather will be less oppressive than Monday's certainly, with lower temperatures and lower humidity.  The groups will be changed somewhat following today's performances during practice.  As I mentioned today, my goal (and yours too) should be to eliminate altogether the group (NOT the athletes) that worked with me today.  I would be ecstatic if every member of the team was capable of completing the 2.5 Mile distance when we face Quincy on September 7.  We are making progress, that is evident.  Keep up the good work.

Today (Tuesday) the groups that ran independently and easy on Monday will be with Coach George at the school.  They will have a workout consisting of long repeats. The groups that worked with Coach Berens will again work with her and Coach Richardson and will be extending their easy paced running.  That group which worked with me today will again be working on base miles and stamina, looking ahead to our first meet.

Tomorrow, each group, following completion of its run, will have strength and conditioning drills, abs and stretching with their respective coaches.

Tomorrow the coaches will also be starting to look toward the Martha's Vineyard Invitational scheduled for September 10.  Unfortunately, we have very limited entries in this event.  Varsity teams of 7 Boys and 7 Girls will be asked to compete in that meet.  Entries must be submitted no later than September 7.  We hope to field a competitive team on a very demanding 5K course.  Experience will undoubtedly factor into our decision on who is entered.  But don't despair . . . you all will have many opportunities to shine this season as well as in the seasons to come.  I am very optimistic about our future, as you should be.

See you all at 4:00 on the track tomorrow.
