FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 and Martha's Vineyard Itinerary

Another great week of practice with some impressive performances at Wednesday's meet is coming to a close.  But before you head off for the weekend, we will have practice today at 2:30.  Three groups today . . . (1) Boys and Girls headed to Martha's Vineyard tomorrow, (2) All other Boys, and (3) All other Girls.  Following a warm up and a 10 minute jog, Groups (2) and (3) will be running 3 X .7 (Girls) or 3 X .9 (Boys) on school grounds.  Abs and Stretch and Adios.  Distance runners, as you know, work 6 days per week, and I know everybody wants a crack at the next Invitational opportunity.  So those not going to Martha's Vineyard are expected to run either Saturday or Sunday on his/her own for 30 minutes (more if you're ready, able and willing.)

Those traveling to Martha's Vineyard will have a shakeout run today of 25-30 minutes at an EASY pace with 10 minute core, 10 minute abs, and 10 minute stretch.

The travel itinerary for Martha's Vineyard looks like this:

07:00AM   Depart WHRHS by van
09:30AM   Ferry to Oak Bluffs
12:45PM    Varsity Girls Race
01:15PM    Varsity Boys Race
03:45PM    Ferry to Woods Hole
05:30PM    Return to WHRHS

Things to bring . . .  Uniforms (yes, we've seen kids arrive without one) , running shoes (spikes are appropriate, but not required on this course), and an extra pair of socks (you race in dry socks and may need them.)   Something warm to wear while on the Ferry, sun screen, $$ (T-shirts are available and you will have time to eat in Oak Bluffs before we return.)  Snacks are optional.  FYI - There will be close to 700 runners in this year's M/V Invitational and it will definitely be a challenging day for all.  The forecast for Vineyard Haven at race time - overcast (we can only hope) and 76-78 degrees. Not bad at all . . .

See you at 2:30.
