THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2016

Yes, we practice in the rain!  Today's forecast is for just that, but with the possibility of thunder and lightning, all groups will stay on school grounds.  Warmup at 2:30 on the track, followed by a second run through of emergency procedures, then we'll split up.

The groups that ran repeats at the school will go easy for 30-40 minutes followed by strength and conditioning, abs and stretching.

The groups that ran easy yesterday will have a workout of 400s with hills, strength and conditioning, abs and stretching.

As I mentioned yesterday, much is expected from this year's Boys team.  But do not become distracted by polls and predictions or hypothetical meets.  The only thing that matters is effort.  I also mentioned yesterday that there is a lot of potential on both teams this year and our top 7 will undoubtedly change dramatically throughout the season.  Our first invitational meet is at Martha's Vineyard on September 10.  We will be entering Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls teams only.  Those selections will be made over the next few days.  In the meantime, the coaches plan to hold practice on Saturday and Monday morning this weekend.  Some of the Boys will be headed off-site on Saturday, with most Boys, along with all the Girls at WHRHS.  Monday we will all be at WHRHS.  Times for these practices will be announced today or tomorrow but they will be AM practices.  Monday, as you know, is a holiday.  We understand some of you may have family commitments and will be unable to attend practice.  If that is the case please let me know as soon as possible.  Looking beyond Monday, Tuesday will be an Easy day for all.  Wednesday is our first dual meet versus Quincy/North Quincy at Pageant Field in Quincy (located behind Adams Field off the Southern Artery just north of Furnace Brook Parkway.)  Our bus will depart WHRHS at 2:15.  If you have not yet purchased a uniform ($37.00) you'll need one for the meet.  The Quincy course is 2.5 miles over trails and some sidewalks.  More details to follow.

See you at 2:30.
