The 3rd best reason for running relates specifically to XC.  It is both an individual and a team sport.  Face it, there is nothing better than a PR.   Mine are all in the rear-view mirror, yours are yet to come.  But winning as a team can be exhilarating (e.g. the Boys at the Patriot League Championship.)  Here's hoping for 14 PRs at Wrentham on November 12 and team entry at the All-State Championship.
