So, if you're ready to get to work . . .

The Cross Country season has concluded . . . and as much as I enjoy the Fall season, new opportunities abound with the start of our Indoor Track & Field season today.  We have a lot of holes to fill with the departure of a great group of Seniors (some of whom attended or participated in this weekend's Panther Prowl.) This afternoon we begin that quest.  You know, and I know, there are some very talented athletes on this team.  How far one goes in this sport depends almost entirely on how much effort he/she is willing to put in.  There is, of course, a social aspect to Track & Field, and I absolutely support that.  Your friend is doing track, so you will give it a try.  Of course, you want to run and train with your friend, that's understandable as well.  But I think one of the things we hope to accomplish is finding out what event(s) each athlete is best suited to.  After all, we have an obligation to you to insure you reach your maximum potential in a learning environment.  We will make assessments over the next week or so.  You, of course, will have input.  But the best way to approach the upcoming week of practice is to keep an open mind, be willing to broaden your horizons, and push yourself to your limits.  Throw the shot put, try the jumps, have a willingness to consider short, mid, and long distances.  Challenge yourself to find the events which will make you a contributor to the team, but more importantly will leave you with a sense of accomplishment.

So, if you're ready to get to work, we'll see you at 2:30.  Boys will hold a brief meeting in the athletic hallway, girls on the indoor track.  See you then.  Bring a friend.
