2020 Practice Day #1

It's here.  Our first practice in some time.  My first practice since Outdoor Track and Field sign-ups, and we know how that ended.  A two week hiatus became, well, you know the rest of the story.  I've purposely passed on blog entries over the past week so that anybody checking in would have to see the last entry.  You should all be familiar with the rules and requirements.  I've written about it and communicated with each athlete and a parent.  Mr. Rodgers has done the same.  And Coach S and Coach Coletti have done so as well through Twitter and Facebook, respectively.  Like results in our sport, while there may be reasons there should be no excuses.

Today we meet at 2:30, in the area beyond the south end of the football field, near the Girls JV Soccer field and the driveway leading up to the school.  You'll arrive with your mask on so the coaches know you have it, and find a spot, along with your back pack/gym bag by any of the painted Xs you'll see on the grass.  We'll go over items of importance, warm up and then have a trial "start" using COVID guidelines and do some EASY running on our course.  A course that can be found at the following link:

Paces and distances for you will vary dramatically.  We have athletes who have run high mileage consistently for months, and runners who may be starting for the very first time.  I can't stress this enough . . . ALL are welcome and ALL are important members of our teams!  Inexperienced distance runners will see rapid improvement in the next few weeks and before long who knows, they may even move to the front of the pack.  It's been done before.

That said, Coach S, Coach Coletti and myself look forward to greeting you today and getting started on what we hope will be a rewarding and memorable Cross Country season for us all.  Are you ready? Be there.  2:30.
